Universal Derailleur Hanger The Rip­mo AF UDH fea­tures a UDH derailleur for max­i­mum future com­pat­i­bil­i­ty and moves to a 55mm chain line. The wider chain line allows for a stiffer chainstay. Modern Geometry With a steep, 76-degree seat tube angle and a rangy but not stratospheric reach, the Ripmo AF places riders centrally and upright over the bottom bracket. It makes for an efficient position that can go the long haul without placing too much weight on its slack, 64.9-degree headtube angle. A 44mm reduced-offset fork is more surefooted on steep descents and steadies high speeds. Better up, better down. DW Link Since 2005, we’ve part­nered with sus­pen­sion guru Dave Wea­gle on the dw-link sus­pen­sion plat­form. It pro­vides an unpar­al­leled com­bi­na­tion of climb­ing effi­cien­cy and down­hill per­for­mance, which has been proven repeat­ed­ly at the high­est lev­els of racing. Air & Coil Compatible The Ripmo AF is compatible with both coil and air shocks due to a more progressive leverage rate. It allows for coil’s linearity to thrive and we spec air shocks with tunes that provide pop without feeling too harsh. On the trail, it gives the suspension a supple feel throughout the entirety of the stroke, enhancing traction no matter how deep you dig. 2.6" Tire Clearance Ibis helped pio­neer the wide rim rev­o­lu­tion, which inspired the new crop of wider 2.4"-2.6" tires. Riders over 5’8 (or 173cm) can easily run a 185mm dropper post, while folks between 5’ and 5’8 (152cm - 172cm) can use a post 125mm or longer depending on inseam length. Inspiration We went into the Smuggler project with the intention of creating a bike that had the quick and high-energy feel of the Spur, but with a bit more travel front and rear. What we ended up with was a perfect blend of the Spur and Sentinel in geometry, travel, capability, and weight. It's not all downhill in the PNW; there's plenty of singletrack, technical trail, and meandering connective routes. The Smuggler is perfect for a day when your path comes across all of the above. Progression In All The Right Places The kinematics are similar to the Spur with a little over 27% progression. This provides a bottomless feel in a mid-travel package. Paired with the Fox Float X shock, the Smuggler can be set up to suit any rider's preference. Looking for a bit more progression? Just add a larger volume spacer. All of this equates to a super lively, active, and forgiving rear suspension feel in any terrain. Frame Design Evolution The Smuggler exhibits a few frame design features that further our push to have clean aesthetics while remaining easy to service. The most notable is the headtube area that provides better functionality and serviceability. The new headtube has integrated bearing cups and no longer needs headset cups pressed into the frame. This allows the frame to have super clean cable ports at the front of the headtube with fully guided internal cable routing from the headtube to the port above the bottom bracket shell. It is also possible to install a shorter, 205mm x 57.5mm stroke shock, to decrease the rear wheel travel to 140mm. The GiddyUp suspension system is designed to behave intuitively across a broad range of setup. Because, we get it, sometimes you just want to grab your bike and GiddyUp, without checking your setup. When you do, it will always feel good. We did this by balancing a 25% progressive leverage curve with a consistent linear rate of change. Anti-squat is tuned to enhance pedaling performance and acceleration. Overall chain growth is moderate and reduces after sag so chain tension doesn't get in the way of the suspension working. This translates to killer small bump compliance and great mid-stroke support that gradually transitions into an end of stroke ramp that is subtle, yet supportive. The amount of consistent progression is carefully optimized for both air and coil shocks. Riders are able to add or remove volume spacers in air shocks to suite their individual riding style and there is no compromise to bottom out support with coil shocks. The Sentinel has 150mm of rear wheel travel when used with the supplied 205mm x 62.5mm stroke shock. It is also possible to install a shorter, 205mm x 57.5mm stroke shock, to decrease the rear wheel travel to 140mm. A wide usable sag range of 25 - 35% allows the rider to tune the feel of the bike; from poppy and playful, to planted for plowing. Inspiration We went into the Smuggler project with the intention of creating a bike that had the quick and high-energy feel of the Spur, but with a bit more travel front and rear. What we ended up with was a perfect blend of the Spur and Sentinel in geometry, travel, capability, and weight. It's not all downhill in the PNW; there's plenty of singletrack, technical trail, and meandering connective routes. The Smuggler is perfect for a day when your path comes across all of the above. Progression In All The Right Places The kinematics are similar to the Spur with a little over 27% progression. This provides a bottomless feel in a mid-travel package. Paired with the Fox Float X shock, the Smuggler can be set up to suit any rider's preference. Looking for a bit more progression? Just add a larger volume spacer. All of this equates to a super lively, active, and forgiving rear suspension feel in any terrain. Frame Design Evolution The Smuggler exhibits a few frame design features that further our push to have clean aesthetics while remaining easy to service. The most notable is the headtube area that provides better functionality and serviceability. The new headtube has integrated bearing cups and no longer needs headset cups pressed into the frame. This allows the frame to have super clean cable ports at the front of the headtube with fully guided internal cable routing from the headtube to the port above the bottom bracket shell.
